The 7 million inhabitant metropolis captivates with buildings in colonial style in addition to modern skyscrapers and trendy cafés, with the ubiquitous Andes on the outskirts. Along the way, you’ll see La Moneda Government Palace, the Universidad de Chile, the Church of San Francisco, the National Library, and the Santa Lucia Hill, where Santiago was founded in 1541. Your route through Santiago continues to Mercado Central, the main fish and seafood market. Drive through the Bellavista artists’ and nightlife district to the Cerro San Cristóbal viewpoint. From here you have a fantastic view over the seemingly endless sea of houses in Santiago and the impressive backdrop of the nearby Andean Cordillera.

In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel in Santiago and start your journey to Valparaíso. You will get to know the centre of the port city of Valparaíso on foot. Day 4: Chilenian cooking

The morning is at leisure. After breakfast, for example, you have the opportunity to explore the city on your own or to go to Viña del Mar by public transport if you want to relax a little on the beach. In the early afternoon, make your own way to the nearby restaurant where the cooking class takes place. From there, go to the Valparaíso market with other participants in the cooking class and buy some ingredients for the cooking class. During the course, you will get an insight into the typical Chilean cuisine, which is particularly famous for its seafood and prepare local specialities.
