Welcome to the southernmost city in the world! You are are already expected at the airport and taken to your hotel. Use the afternoon to explore Ushuaia on your own. A walk along the banks of the Beagle Channel will give you fantastic views of the mountains and the channel.
Today you will explore the national park Tierra del Fuego on foot and by canoe. First, you will visit the most southern post office in the world before you start your hike along the coastal hiking trail past rugged cliffs and through varied vegetation. After lunch you will row in a rubber dinghy on the Rio Lapataia until you reach the bay Lapataia, where the Panamericana ends.
By boat, you will cross the Beagle Channel from Usuaia to the Estancia Harberton. On the way you will pass islands populated by cormorants, giant petrels, albatrosses, seals and the famous lighthouse Les Eclaireurs. Afterwards you will continue by speedboat to the Isla Martillo, where you will go ashore and be greeted by numerous cute Magellanic and Gentoo penguins. After a visit to the Acatushun Museum you will make your way back to Ushuaia.
Very early in the morning you will leave towards Cabo San Pablo. After visiting the authentic bakery La Unión in the town of Tolhuin, you will continue on an unpaved road to the coast. During a short hike to an old lighthouse you can admire the shipwreck “Desdémona”, which has been lying on this beach for more than 40 years. After visiting the mysterious giant, you will visit the Estancia Rolito, an enchanting country house, dedicated to sheep breeding, that seems to preserve the family charm.
