Welcome to El Calafate! You will be picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your disposal. We recommend you to explore the small town of El Calafate on the edge of Lago Argentino.

A highlight of Patagonia is waiting for you today: The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world and has been declared a Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Marvel at the gigantic ice surface from the footbridges on the other side of Lago Argentino. You can admire the glacier walls up close during a boat trip. As an option, you can combine the trip with a visit to a Patagonian estancia and short hikes.

From Punta Bandera’s port you will take a boat to the Estancia Cristina. Already the boat trip is spectacular: With a view of huge icebergs and the western front of the Upsala Glacier you cross the Lago Argentino. Once on the other side, you get to know the history of this remote estancia. Afterwards you will go by jeep to the Refugio Hielos Continentales from where you will reach after a short hike a viewpoint that gives you a fantastic view of Lago Guillermo, the Upsala Glacier and the South Patagonian Ice Field.

You leave El Calafate and drive to the small village of El Chalten. This village is located at the foot of the Fitz Roy massif, the dream destination for mountaineers and trekking enthusiasts from all over the world! The rest of the day is free at your disposal. Our tip: use the free afternoon for a first discovery tour in the unique surroundings. We recommend, for example, a hike to the Mirador del Torre, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view, or to the Mirador de los Cóndores.

The day is free at your disposal for a longer hike in the surroundings, for example to the Laguna de los Tres. The last ascent is very demanding, but if the weather is good you will be rewarded with a wonderful view of the Fitz Roy.

After a short drive you will start today’s hike in the Estancia Huemules through the dense forest along the river Diablo. After climbing up the rocks on fixed rope routes, you will have the first spectacular view of the glacier Cagliero, on whose ice masses you will hike afterwards. You will not forget the spectacular views!

In due course you will be picked up from your hotel in El Chalten and taken to the airport in El Calafate, from where you will continue your journey.
