Cusco │ Sacred Valley │ Ollantaytambo │ Aguas Calientes │ Machu Picchu
After your arrival in Cusco, your guide brings you to your hotel. As Cusco is situated at an altitude of 3,430m/11,253ft, you should start this day calmly in order to acclimatize properly. This is a free day. Enjoy the wonderful city of Cusco, stroll up and down the pretty lanes, or take in the culture at the bustling “Plaza de Armas“ sitting in one of the numerous cafés and restaurants.
After breakfast, you go on a half-day city tour. On the tour, you visit the magnificent “Plaza de Armas“ and the beautiful Coricancha Cathedral. Afterward, you continue to the famous “Piedra de 12 Angulos“ and to some impressive ruins close to Cusco, such as the huge “Sacsayhuaman“ fortress. After lunch, you have the rest of the day off to enjoy the exceptional atmosphere of this unique city.
Today you take a day trip to the sacred valley of the Incas. During this diverse trip, you have the opportunity to meet the local population and bargain over the prices with the traders wearing traditional clothing in the colourful Indio market of Pisac. After lunch in a local restaurant, your trip continues, passing the idyllic villages of Calca and Urubamba, until you reach Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca citadel.
Early in the morning, you take a train ride to Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas. You arrive in Aguas Calientes, where you will be picked up from the train station and brought to your comfortable hotel. The rest of the day is at your disposal. You can either go exploring in the small touristy village of Aguas Calientes or visit the nearby hot springs, where you can relax and prepare for your journey to Machu Picchu.
You start the day with a ride to the world famous ruins of Machu Picchu. During the tour through the citadel, you visit many highlights such as the commanding main square, the round tower, the holy solar clock, the royal chambers, or the Temple of the Three Windows. After the tour, you have some free time to stroll through these mystical ruins and enjoy the incredible atmosphere, before you head back to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon. By train, you ride back to Poroy, where you are picked up and be brought to your Hotel.
After a relaxing breakfast, you are picked up and brought to the airport or bus station. Alternatively, you may, of course, extend your stay in Cusco by booking another travel package and combining it with this trip. It would be a pleasure for us to organize an individual program for you.
